Year 5 & 6 Girls Football

After being beaten on sudden death penalties in last years final, the Year 5 & 6 Girls football team were keen to go one better in this years competition and claim the Harrogate Partnership title.

The girls opened their account with a solid 2 - 0 victory over Pannal thanks to two goals from Ruby.

The second game was an even more comfortable 2 - 0 victory with goals from Gracie and Ruby.

After a match rest the girls came back even stronger beating Saltergate 3 - 0.

The final game of the competition was a much tougher affair coming up against an also unbeaten Rossett Acre. A slight defensive lapse and some agonisingly close shooting meant that the girls were defeated 1 - 0.

This result meant the girls finished 2nd in their pool but managed to gain qualification to the final.

Year 5 & 6 Sportshall Athletics

Our Year 5 & 6 Sportshall Athletics team stormed to victory in this years' Harrogate Partnership Final.

Having finished in 2nd place in last years final, Mr Wilson and his team were determined to claim back the title they previously won in 2014.

The children performed brilliantly on the track winning several races in their heat and backed this up with some fantastic throwing and jumping in the field events.

Winning the title means the team will now go on to compete at the North Yorkshire Final representing the Harrogate Area against other champions from round North Yorkshire.

A massive well done to all our athletes.

Year 5 & 6 Girls Football

For the second time in two weeks St Mary's Year 5 & 6 claimed victory in a Harrogate Partnership final.

This time it was the turn of the Year 5 & 6 girls footballers who produced a magnificent display to take the crown after being losing finalists last year.

The girls came up against five other qualifying teams from across the Harrogate Partnership but with some brilliant teamwork, some excellent defending and the attacking skills of Ruby and Gracie, the girls won all 5 games without conceding a goal.

The girls will now go on to represent the Harrogate Partnership at the North Yorkshire School Games in the summer.

Well done to the girls for an amazing performance.
