School Games Mark

St. Mary's are pleased to announce that after two years of achieving a Silver School Games Mark we have been awarded a Gold Award for our achievements in the last academic year.

This accreditation takes into account such things as, the amount of P.E. taking place in school, the amount of children actively involved in Extra-Curricular clubs and competitions and how many children are involved in leadership within Intra-House competitions.

This is a collective effort from staff, children and parents, so a big well done to everyone.

We have a lovely plaque to add to our collection of trophies this year.

 Sports Awards Night 2016

Sarah Jones Tennis Coaching

On Tuesday and Thursday last week each class from Reception to Year 6 were treated to some expert tennis coaching from local coach Sarah Jones.

All the children had a fun and engaging time learning and improving their tennis skills.

Sarah was very impressed not only with the standard of tennis, but by the childrens’ excellent behaviour, attitude and determination to succeed.

Change4life Assembly

The whole school were given an education on how to keep our lives fit and healthy after our Year 6 Change4Life Ambassadors led an assembly on the importance of healthy eating and exercise.

Having attended a training day specifically for Year 6 children the Ambassadors learnt about what Change4Life is and how it can be developed within school.

During their assembly to school they talked about sugar in our food and drink, the importance and types of exercise we can do and about a Change4Life club running in school. The Ambassadors produced all the resources themselves and all the audience including many staff were impressed with the message they were getting across.

After Easter the Ambassadors aim to run a Change4Life club for children in Years 3 & 4
